Natural Wood Series

Seven real wood species, three overlay styles, and dozens of door profiles — no two doors exactly alike.

Talk to a Specialist — (352) 977-4830

The uniqueness of natural wood is its variation in color and grain pattern — just as no two trees are alike, no two pieces of wood are alike. Light stains show greater color variation from the underlying wood tones than darker stains do.

Door Overlay Styles

Full Overlay door example
Full Overlay (FO) — covers most of the frame, 1/4″ reveal
Standard Overlay door example
Standard Overlay (SO) — roughly 1″ of frame exposed
Inset door example

Inset (IN)A classic look where the door and drawer front sit inset into the face frame, leaving the entire face frame exposed.

Wood Species & Materials

Cherry (C) wood sample
Cherry (C)

Cherry (C) — A rich, premium hardwood. Coloring can range from pinkish brown to white, green, or yellow. Typically shows sapwood, pitch pockets, streaks, and pin knots, and darkens with age.

Alder (A) wood sample
Alder (A)

Alder (A) — Lighter in weight and softer than other hardwoods, with a fine, straight grain similar to Cherry and Maple and a uniform honey color. Some tight knots are typically present. Stains well across the full color spectrum.

Maple (M) wood sample
Maple (M)

Maple (M) — A dense, straight-grained hardwood with uniform coloring. Can take on a mottled appearance and small mineral streaks when stained, and ages slightly over time.

Walnut (W) wood sample
Walnut (W)

Walnut (W) — A premium hardwood prized for its rich beauty, warmth, and strength. Generally straight and open grain, sometimes wavy or curly. Color ranges from creamy white to chocolaty brown, and it mellows and lightens with age.

Hickory (H) wood sample
Hickory (H)

Hickory (H) — A strong hardwood with dramatic color variation and grain pattern in the same piece of lumber, evening out slightly over time. Expect some knots, mineral streaking, pin holes, and burls.

Quartersawn White Oak (Q) — Cut using the old-fashioned method — quartered logs, then cut on the diagonal from center to edge — giving it a distinctive straight-line grain with medullary ray flecks. The reflective ray fleck is a signature characteristic, not a flaw.

Red Oak (O) wood sample
Red Oak (O)

Red Oak (O) — Known for strength and stability with a prominent open grain. Ranges from white to yellow to reddish brown, with small pin knots and minor mineral streaking; graining can range from tightly knit to a sweeping arch.

Every door style is available in a specific set of overlay, reveal, and stain options — bring your inspiration photos to your showroom visit and we'll match you to the right species and stain.
